Setup
Install, adapter photos, first drive, and optional web upload: Getting started.

Bluetooth: iPhone Settings vs GasTab Settings
- iPhone Settings → Bluetooth: turn Bluetooth on. Do not tap Connect next to your OBD adapter.
- iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth: make sure GasTab is on.
- GasTab Settings (Live → gear): driver, vehicle, region, and upload — not Bluetooth pairing. Connect from Live → Start.
Troubleshooting
- Bluetooth unauthorized: iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Bluetooth — turn GasTab on (it appears after at least one Live → Start attempt).
- No adapters found: open GasTab, tap Start, then start the engine. Confirm iPhone Bluetooth is on, the adapter is seated, and the phone is near the dash.
- Stuck connecting: forget the adapter under iPhone Settings → Bluetooth, unplug ~30 seconds, replug, then Live → Start and start the engine.
- Ready but no RPM/speed: start the engine if you have not yet, wait a few seconds. If values stay blank, send Scott the Connection Info from Live.
- OBDLink CX on GM or Ford: often unreliable — a Veepeak or Vgate is the safer choice. Adapter details: Getting started → Step 4.
Canada
On a Canadian iPhone, GasTab shows kilometres, litres, L/100km, and CAD. Set your pump price in GasTab Settings (Live → gear) or on a trip’s fuel price card. With a postal code saved, the app can suggest a Statistics Canada monthly average for the nearest covered city (not a live pump price).
For exact fuel spend, log fill-ups under Gas Receipts after you sign in — following trips use that receipt price. OBD2 adapters sold in Canada work the same as in the U.S.
Override region: GasTab Settings → Region and units (Automatic / United States / Canada / Australia).
Australia
On an Australian iPhone, GasTab shows kilometres, litres, L/100km, and AUD. Set your pump price in GasTab Settings or on a trip’s fuel price card, or log fill-ups under Gas Receipts for receipt-based trip costs. There is no regional auto pump-price feed yet.
Override region: GasTab Settings → Region and units (Automatic / United States / Canada / Australia).
Web sync (optional)
Upload trips is off by default. Setup: Getting started → Step 8.
- Trip on phone but not on web: close GasTab and reopen when you have network access.
- Dashboard login fails: paste the exact token from your email, with no extra spaces.
- No token yet: use the token request form — we email it right away.
